What We Collect

Account Data

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address (for authentication)
  • Display name (optional, user-provided)
  • Authentication provider (email/password or Google OAuth)

Usage Data

When you use the app, we store:

  • Practice session results (exercise type, score, time spent, XP earned)
  • Progress data (mastery level, half-life, session count per work)
  • Streak and achievement data
  • Preference settings (translation, daily goal, font size, theme)

Analytics Data (Optional)

If you have not opted out, we collect anonymized usage events:

  • Session starts and completions
  • Content browsed
  • Search queries
  • These events are stored with a hashed user identifier (SHA-256), not your actual user ID or email. We cannot reverse the hash to identify you.
  • You can opt out in Settings at any time.

Push Notification Data

If you enable review reminders, we store your push subscription endpoint (provided by your browser) and your preferred notification times.

Custom Content

If you add your own passages, the text you enter is stored in our database and associated with your account. It is not shared with other users.

What We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not track your location
  • We do not access your contacts, camera, or files
  • We do not sell or share your data with third parties
  • We do not serve advertisements
  • We do not use your data for AI training

Cookies & Local Storage

Versi uses essential cookies only — no tracking or advertising cookies.

  • Authentication cookies: Supabase session tokens to keep you signed in. These are strictly necessary for the app to function.
  • Local storage: Theme preference, beta access code, and meaning reflections are stored in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device.

We do not use any third-party analytics cookies, tracking pixels, or fingerprinting techniques.

How We Store Data

All data is stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS). Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Row-level security policies ensure users can only access their own data.

Group features: If you join a group, other group members can see your display name and XP within the group leaderboard. They cannot see your individual exercise results, scores, or practice history.

Data Retention

  • Your account data is retained as long as your account exists.
  • If you delete your account, all associated data (progress, results, achievements, group memberships, custom content) is permanently deleted via database CASCADE rules.
  • Analytics events are retained for 90 days, then automatically purged.

Your Rights

You can:

  • Access your data via the My Library and Settings pages
  • Export your data by contacting us
  • Delete your account and all associated data via Settings
  • Opt out of analytics in Settings

Children's Privacy

Versi is for readers sixteen and up, and we do not knowingly accept direct registrations from anyone younger. A parent or guardian may create child profiles under their own account: those profiles have no email address and no password, store only a display name and practice results, are visible only to that parent, and can be deleted by the parent at any time. If you believe a child has registered directly, please contact us to have the account removed.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated via the app.
