In the name of Jesus Christ crucified and of sweet Mary. Most holy and most reverend my father in Christ Jesus: your poor unworthy daughter Catherine, servant and slave of the servants of Jesus Christ, writes to you in His precious Blood.
With desire have I desired to see you a courageous man, free from any fear or fleshly love toward yourself, or toward any creature related to you by blood.
For I perceive in the sweet Presence of God that nothing so much hinders your holy desire and good purpose as fear.
Be a courageous man and not a timid one. Respond to God, who is calling you to hold and possess the seat of the glorious Shepherd Peter, whose vicar you are.
Raise the standard of the holy Cross, for as we were freed by the Cross — so said Paul — so, by raising this standard, which seems to me the refreshment of Christians, we shall be freed.
Come, come, and resist no more the will of God that calls you; the hungry sheep await your coming to hold and possess the place of your predecessor and Champion, Apostle Peter.
Come, for the Vicar of Christ should dwell in his own place. Come, and do not wait for time, since time does not wait for you.
Forgive me, father, my presumption in what I have said to you and am saying. The great love which I bear for your salvation compels me. Remain in the sweet and holy love of God. Sweet Jesus. Jesus Love.
