Wynken, Blynken, and Nod

Eugene Field

20 passages1889
The Voyage

1Wynken, Blynken, and Nod one night

2Sailed off in a wooden shoe—

3Sailed on a river of crystal light,

4Into a sea of dew.

5"Where are you going, and what do you wish?"

6The old moon asked the three.

7"We have come to fish for the herring fish

8That live in this beautiful sea;

9Nets of silver and gold have we!"

10Said Wynken, Blynken, and Nod.

The Dream

11Wynken and Blynken are two little eyes,

12And Nod is a little head,

13And the wooden shoe that sailed the skies

14Is a wee one's trundle-bed.

15So shut your eyes while mother sings

16Of wonderful sights that be,

17And you shall see the beautiful things

18As you rock in the misty sea,

19Where the old shoe rocked the fishermen three:

20Wynken, Blynken, and Nod.
